5 Great Tasting Tempeh Recipes

Tofu is not the only soy-bean based substitute you can turn to when cooking for a meatless meal.  Tempeh (originally from Indonesia) has been a staple in the Asian diet for years but has recently gained popularity in the US.

Tempeh has a more textured and nutty flavor than tofu and is very high in protein and calcium.  Because of its firm texture, you need to slice tempeh into small dices or cubes, not more than 3/4 inch thick before cooking.  Check out the refrigerated section of your local Whole Foods or health food store and get ready to try some of these tasty recipes for your meatless Monday.
