Just because you’re super-busy and stuck on campus, doesn’t mean you can’t fit in a workout – or that it has to feel like a chore. Try these tips for staying fit while having a blast!
Explore Your Campus
Brienne Peters from Lean Clean and Brie loves going on runs throughout her college campus. She really encourages you to get out there, because Fall is a beautiful time for running, plus it gives you an opportunity to meet new people and find new places! Kim Olson from Fit Kim recommends walking or biking everywhere rather than driving or catching a ride to incorporate more activity into your day. You could also try checking out the campus pool, or running the stairs in the stadium.
Plan It Out
Katie Dunlop from Love Sweat and Fitness points out that you have a schedule for classes and studying, so why not schedule in a workout, too? When you make a plan, you’re more likely to stick to it, and you won’t waste any time deciding what to do. Katie suggests scheduling your workouts before or after class, to get you out of the house and moving first thing.
If you choose to join a gym, consider bringing your homework with you. Kimberly Olson from Fit Kim says she found she could easily read while on the elliptical, bike or treadmill. Another option would be to listen to audiobooks or podcasts to make the most of your workout time.
Sign Up for Group Fitness
Both Brie and Kim suggest signing up for a group fitness class. Kim says they’re a great way to stay on track and meet new people, while Brie encourages you to sign up for a class with a friend to have fun while you get a great workout in. This can also be a great way to find a workout buddy both in and outside of your group fitness classes, so you can help each other stay motivated. Morgan Timm from Mostly Morgan recommends getting an accountability buddy so you can make a commitment together to head to the gym.
