Remember to step back from your busy day and get a workout in for some you time. Try incorporating mindfulness into your fitness routine to help improve your flow of movement, help you get more out of each move and reduce stress. Trainers Téana David and Robert Nguyen share tips on how to incorporate this practice into your daily workouts so you can get the most out of your session.
Workout in the Morning
Robert says that, ideally, yoga should be practiced in the morning while the mind is clearer. He says that there are often less distractions in the morning, which makes it easier to be focused and present in your fitness.
Create a Calm and Quiet Place
It’s also helpful to ensure that you have a calm and quiet place to complete your workout or to meditate. Robert suggests hiring a sitter if you have kids so you are able to be completely free of any distractions. This helps you really focus on what’s happening in the present.
Use Your Breath
Téana says that the breath is very important during Pilates. By matching your movements and your breath, you are more involved in the exercise and are able to connect your body and mind. Téana also says that breathing really helps to ensure you are doing each movement correctly.
Try Something New
It’s easy to go on autopilot when you’re doing the same exercise routine all the time. Trying something new can not only help to push you out of your comfort zone, but can also help you to be more aware of your body and how it feels in each movement.
