They say great abs are made in the kitchen, and they’re right! We don’t know about you, but we certainly don’t want to be undoing all our hard work exercising by not eating properly. Today, we’ve got tips from nutritionists about how they maintain a flat tummy.

Watch what you’re sipping on: Stephanie says that the fastest way to lose excess fat is to cut out sugary drinks and alcohol beverages.

Drink Up: Your 8 glasses a day may not be enough: Angelique says, “depending on how much you exercise, how much you weigh, and how hot the climate you live in is, you may need much more.” Thirst can also be mistaken for hunger, so if you’re hungry when you shouldn’t be, drinking a glass of water can help you avoid consuming unnecessary calories.
Crack Some Pistachios: Angelique says that studies show individuals who eat 1 ounce of pistachios each day have slimmer waistlines and lowered cholesterol. Plus, all that cracking slows you down, helping you feel more satisfied.
Eat Fat to Lose Fat: Traci says that eating a little extra fat helps people to burn belly fat, because the hormones that cause belly fat get balanced with healthy fat. Her top healthy fat sources? Avocado, or full-fat yogurt with cinnamon and fresh berries.
Track What You’re Eating: Kristine suggests using a tracking app like MyFitnessPal or keeping a food journal so you become more mindful about what you’re eating, and to ensure that you’re only eating when you’re hungry.
Eat More Greens: Vegetables are one of the best weapons for fighting belly fat, according to Kristine! She says that the fiber and high water content helps you to feel full longer, with few added calories.
Try Tart Cherries: Different from sweet cherries, dried or fresh tart cherries contain anthocyanins, which Kristine says has been shown to help bust belly fat.

Get Your Carbs from Veggies: Rebecca recommends switching up your diet so most of your carbs are coming from fresh vegetables rather than overly processed foods like white bread and pasta.
Start Your Day Off Right: Try drinking a glass of warm lemon water first thing when you wake up in the morning. Rebecca says this helps to stimulate digestion, plus gives your body a little mini-cleanse.
Sip Some Green Tea: Green tea is one of Rebecca’s go-to’s when it comes to burning belly fat. The tea has been shown to boost metabolism, and is also a great alternative for sugary flavored drinks.
