Holiday Themed Races to Try This Year!

A festive holiday race is the perfect way to enjoy the season while burning calories!  Check out these fun races held across the U.S.

Boston:

Ugly Sweater Run – December 12th: Dig out your ugly holiday sweater for this 5K.  After you walk or run, you can warm up with a hot chocolate or cocktail and enjoy the after-party where plenty of prizes are handed out.

Jingle All The Way 5K – December 12th: Treats will be throughout the walker and runner-friendly course for you to enjoy along your way!  Participants are encouraged to bring an unwrapped gift to donate to the Christmas Toy Giveaway.

Chicago:

Santa Hustle – December 5th: Make your way along lakeside with thousands of Santa’s!  The 5K course is full with festive music, images and treats.  To make your run even more meaningful, Santa Hustle Chicago is partnered with the American Cancer Society.

Rudolph Rumble 8K – December 13th: Support the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital with this holiday-themed 8K, filled with lights, music, treats, photos with Santa and a local food and craft fair.  There’s also a Donner Dash kid’s race with distances for children ages 2-12.

Commitment Day – January 1st: Start off your New Year right with this fun 5K race that helps you start off 2016 by making a commitment to your health and fitness.

Los Angeles:

Christmas Run – December 5th: This 5 or 10K fun run takes place along Santa Monica and Venice.  Be sure to plan out an awesome holiday costume, as there will be a costume contest!

Snow Run – December 5th: Just because there’s no snow in L.A., doesn’t mean you can’t run through a winter wonderland! Enjoy this fun 5K filled with plenty of holiday cheer.

Manhattan Beach Yuletide 5K – December 12th: Celebrate the holidays with this race under the stars, where the whole course is illuminated by glow sticks.  After the 5K, there’s also a Little Elves Dash for the kids!

Jingle Bell Run/Walk – December 13th: Costumes are encouraged at this 5K, which helps to raise money to help find a cure for arthritis.

Miami:

Holiday Beer Run 5K – December 5th: With costume contests, food trucks and live music, this 5K celebrates the holidays and winter beer.

Florida Holiday Halfathon – December 13th: If endurance racing is more your thing, this Halfathon is the perfect way to end your raising season for 2015.  Celebrate with a post-race party and a holiday themed metal.

Jingle Bell Jog 5K – December 20th: All participants to the Jingle Bell Jog will receive a Santa suit, plus a pair of jingle bells to tie to your running shoes.  Finish the 5K and receive a candy cane themed metal.

Dallas:

Santa Scurry – December 4th: This fun family event kicks off with a light parade, followed by the 5K run/walk.

Deck the Trails – December 5th: Explore Coppell Nature Park with this 3 mile, holiday-themed trail run, which supports the conservation and education of the natural environment by partnering with The Friends of Coppell Nature Park.

Sunset Santa 5K – December 5th: This sunset run kicks off with pictures with Santa!

Jingle Bell Run – December 22nd: Choose from a 1K or 5K walk/run to benefit Trinity Strand Trail and Mavs Foundation.  There’s plenty of music, food and fun at the post-run party!

Washington:

Jingle All The Way 5K – December 5th: Add the complimentary jingle bells to your running shoes to jingle all the way through this 5K.  Warm up post-run with a warm beverage.

The 12K’s of Christmas – December 12th: Opt for a 5K or run a 12K in this Christmas themed race.  Holiday music, cider and eggnog will greet you at the finish line.

Holiday Lights Run – December 15th: Enjoy the sparkling holiday lights in this evening run, which is followed by a raffle.

Philadelphia:

Elves for the Shelves 5K – December 5th: This run supports the Radnor Memorial Library and coincides with the holiday parade for plenty of festive fun.

Eggnog Jog – December 5th: If eggnog is your jam, this is the race for you!  A portion of the proceeds go to supporting The Salvation Army.

Jack Daniel’s Hot Toddy 5K – December 6th: Keep yourself going through this 5K knowing that a Hot Toddy made with your choice of  Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey or Jack Daniel’s Original No 7 is waiting for you at the end!

Autism Frostbite 5K – December 6th: Support Autism awareness by participating in this 5K race, followed by a community day.  The theme is Ugly Sweater, so be sure to choose your outfit with this in mind!

Christmas City Classic – December 12th: Race along with a sea of runners decked out in holiday themed costumes!  There’s also plenty of Christmas cookies and fresh fruit to nosh on at the end.

Atlanta:

Silver Bell Spring 5K – December 4th: Held under the holiday lights, you’ll hear bells ringing throughout the course of this 5K, which supports Big Brothers Big Sisters of NWGA Mountains.

Kringle Krawl 5K – December 5th: Deck yourself out in Santa gear to join all the other Kris Kringles participating in this 5K.

Run the Lights of LIFE – December 5th & 6th: Enjoy a 5K through a light show, followed by a holiday sweater contest, s’mores and hot cocoa.

Atlanta Christmas 5K – December 19th: Sport your complimentary Santa hat as you run or walk through this 5K.  Skinny Santa will also be there to hand out prizes!

Seattle:

Grinch Trail Run Half Marathon & 5K – December 6th: Run a half marathon or 5K with The Grinch!  Spanish Chicken soup will be provided post-race.

Santa Runs Tacoma – December 12th: With three distance options, Santa Runs Tacoma is a great option for anyone looking to join a holiday race.

12K’s of Christmas – December 20th: This 12K race is inspired by the 12 Days of Christmas and also has options for a 5K Run/Walk and a Kids’ Race.

New York:

Cocoa Classic 5K & 10K – December 5th: Choose from a 5K or 10K in this 4th annual event, which’ll warm you up post-race with a mug of hot cocoa!

Running Festival of Lights – December 6th: This scenic race is the perfect way to celebrate Chanukkah.  Choose from 5K or half-marathon distances.

It’s A Wonderful Run 5K – December 12th: If you’re a fan of “It’s A Wonderful Life”, you’ll love this run, which features scenery from the movie throughout the 5K, all followed by a festival.
